Crown Bay Marina hosts the second annual “Irmageddon” Poker Run 2019

Crown Bay Marina’s Irmageddon trophy, designed and handcrafted by marina owner Kosei Ohno.

The Crown Bay Marina’s second annual Irmageddon Poker Run brought together the boating community, the marina, and Virgin Islands local youth through the St. Thomas Boys and Girls Club on Sunday.

The U.S. Coast Guard conducted a ceremonial helicopter flyover, followed by a search and rescue demonstration outside the entrance of Crown Bay Marina. Rescue swimmer Phoenix Hannah was deployed mid-air and simulated the recovery of a distressed swimmer.

Hannah then swam 103 meters to the docks of Crown Bay Marina where he addressed the gathered boaters and dignitaries wishing everyone a safe and fun day on the water.

For the poker run, the boats followed a route visiting hard hit areas including Cruz Bay on St. John, Coki Beach, Brewers Beach, Honeymoon Beach on Water Island and finishing at Crown Bay Marina.

Shamara Capitolin was the poker run winner. The winner of the first Miss Irmageddon contest was Lekia Gumbs, who received a crown made by Crown Bay Marina owner Kosei Ohno from powerline debris that was recovered from the roadside following Hurricane Irma.

A number of law enforcement agencies participated in the event.
